Śrī Rāmarakshā-Stotra (श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्र) {hymns of Bala and Ati-Bala are explained in this chapter of Rig-Veda 3.53}

Śrī Rāmarakshā-Stotra (श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्र)

During Chaitra-Navaratri and Ashvin-Navaratri, one should recite Ramarakshastotra at least 12 times daily morning in Brahm-muhurtam (just before sun-rise) for all 9 days, keeping the true meaning of stotra in heart while reciting it.

Śrī Rāmarakshā-Stotra (श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्र)

Sri Ram Raksha Stotra (Sanskrit: श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्रम् Hindi: श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्र) is one of the most powerful divine hymns (Sanskrit Stotra) in praise of Lord Sri Ram, recited as a prayer, and a request for the complete protection from Lord Rama. Vaidic Sage Budha kaushika was imparted this stotra (hymn of praise) in his dream by Lord Shiva, and was ordered by him to compose this hymn, and in the same way after awaking in the morning sage Budhakaushika noted it down. Thus, this hymn has a divine origin. There is also a reference to this divine hymn in Rig-Veda. 'Ram Raksha' literally means 'Bhagavan Sri Rama's protection (to us)'. Sri Ramaraksha Stotra is also called Rama-Kavach, a shield of Protection by Lord Sri Rama, It is Sri Ram's armour called Vajrapanjar (वज्रपञ्जरनामेदं). Whoever sincerely recites with all faith in Sri Rama, keeping its true meaning in heart, he not only gets the protection from Sri Rama, but also everything Bhakti, Mukti, and all the prosperity and powers at his beck and call, he prospers in this world, and attains salvation in the end. Thus this hymn, in itself, is a complete prayer to Sri Rama and recited with all faith and love by millions of devout Hindus and Sri Ram-Bhaktas every morning and on especial occasions such as Ramanavami, Navaratri etc.
During Chaitra-Navaratri and Ashvin-Navaratri, one should recite Ramarakshastotra at least 12 times daily morning in Brahm-muhurtam (just before sun-rise) for all 9 days, keeping the true meaning of stotra in heart while reciting it.

Some special features of Shri Ram-Raksha Stotra:

1. Vedic origin : Śrī Rāma-rakṣā Stōtra and ṛgvēda (Rig-veda):
Shri Ram is the Purusa (the most superior personality) of Vedas and the Brahman (the supreme absolute entity) of Upanishas. Sri Ram is eulogized as Purusa, Vishnu, Indra (in the sense of the supreme king of the cosmos at many places) in all the Vedas.
ya ime rodasī ubhe ahamindramatuṣṭavam ।
viśvāmitrasyarakṣati brahmedaṃ bhārataṃ janam ॥
(Rig Veda 3.53.12)
1. ya (य) = O' human being 2. ime ( इ॒मे ) = These 3. rodasī (रोद॑सी) = Heaven and earth 4. ubhe (उ॒भे) = both 5. aham (अ॒हम) = I 6. indram (इन्द्रम् ) = Shri Ram 7. atuṣṭavam (अतु॑ष्टवम् ) = praises 8. viśvāmitrasya rakṣati (वि॒श्वामि॑त्रस्य रक्षति॒) = The prayers of Vishvamitra (in form of Ram-Raksha-Stotram, here Rakshati word refers to Raksha-Stotra) 9. brahmedaṃ (ब्रह्मे॒दं)= Brahm + idam = this Brahman Rama 10. bhārataṃ janam ( भार॑तं॒ जन॑म्) = the people of Bhaarata
TranslationO' human beings! I (Vishvamitra) have sung praises to lord Shri Rama (Indra) in form of Ram-Raksha-Stotra. That Rama (Indra) is Brahman (the supreme absolute element) the sustainer of this earth and heaven! May this prayer (Ram-Raksha-Stotra) of Vishvamitra keeps secure the race (people) of Bhaarata.
Note:
1) Here Sri Ram is called Brahman the supreme personality, the sustainer of heaven and earth.
2) Every devotee of Sri Ram should pray Rama-Raksha-Stotra daily. Sri Ram will take care of his/her Yog-Kshemam (well-being).

Now in next Hymn of Rig Veda i.e. Rig Veda 3.53.13, Vishvmitra gives Bala and Ati-Bala Vidya (the knowledge of Bala and Ati-Bala Mantras) to Sri Rama.

The hymns of Bala and Ati-Bala are explained in this chapter of Rig-Veda 3.53. This episode of giving Bala and Ati-Bala Vidya to lord Ram is also there in Valmiki RamayaNa, in fact Valmiki RamayaNa was written in order to reinforce the real imports of Vedas (veda upa bR^imhaNa arthaya - Valmiki RamayaNa 1.4.6).

Specific hymns of Bala-Atibala Vidya are Rig-Veda 3.53.17, 18, 19, 20, and 21.

balaṃ dhehi tanūṣu no balamindrānaḷutsu naḥ |
balaṃ tokāya tanayāya jīvase tvaṃ hi baladā asi || [Rig Ved 3.53.18]

Thus Shri Ram Raksha Stotra has vedic origin.

2. Sings supreme glory of Shri Rama Naam :
As like Sri Ram is the most attractive and also the ultimate refuge, similarly Sri Ram Naam is the most beautiful and the best among all mantras in giving protection. Sri Ram Raksha stotra is also the song of supreme glory of Sri Rama Naam.
The most beautiful naam which even Lord Shiva enjoys for chanting:
राम रामेति रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे ।
सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने ॥३८॥
rāma rāmēti rāmēti ramē rāmē manōramē ।
sahasranāma tattulyaṃ rāmanāma varānanē ॥38॥
Lord Shiva tells: O' Fair-faced lady (Parvati) ! My mind enjoys saying the beautiful nama - Ram, Ram, Ram like this. Uttering once the name of Ram is equal to the uttering of any other name of God, a thousand times ॥38॥
The most powerful among all mantras:
पातालभूतलव्योमचारिणश्छद्मचारिणः ।
न द्रष्टुमपि शक्तास्ते रक्षितं रामनामभिः ॥ ११॥
pātālabhūtalavyōmacāriṇaśchadmacāriṇaḥ ।
na draṣṭumapi śaktāstē rakṣitaṃ rāmanāmabhiḥ ॥ 11॥
They who travel in the hell, earth and heaven and who travel secretly (changing forms), would not be able to see (the one who reads) the one who is protected by the names of Shri Rama or Ram Raksha Stotra. ॥11॥
jagajaitraikamaṃtrēṇa rāmanāmnābhirakṣitam ।
yaḥ kaṃṭhē dhārayēttasya karasthāḥ sarvasiddhayaḥ ॥ 13॥
In all three worlds, one who wears the hymn of the name of Rama as a protection round his neck, would get all the powers and Siddhis (accomplishments) on his hand. ॥13॥

3. A treasure of sweet names of Shri Rama :
Sri Ram Raksha stotra has many beautiful names of Shri Ram, so it is very much pleasing and nectarine to heart and mind for recitation. It is a pure bliss to keep the nectar in the from of the beautiful names of Shri Rama on tongue while recitation and to contemplate over it.

Some beautiful names of Shri Rama coming in this hymn are : Sri RamaRambhadra (Sri Rama, the most virtuous), Ramchandra (Shri Rama whose countenance is like full moon), RaghavRaghunandan (the darling of Raghus), Raghunath (the lord of Raghus), Dashrathatmaj (the son of Dashrath), Kaushalyey (the son of Kaushalya), Vishwamitrapriy (favorite to Vishwamitra), Saumitri-vatsal (affectionate to Lakshman), Sitapati (the consort of Sita), Jamadagnyajit (the conqueror of the son of Jamdagni), Bharatvandit (saluted by Bharat), Vidyanidhi (the ocean of wisdom), Khardhvansi (the destroyer of demon Khara), Jambvadashray (in whom Jambvan takes refuge), Sugrivesh (the lord of Sugriva), Hanumatprabhu (the god of Hanuman Ji), Raghuttama (the best of Raghus), Dashrathih (the son of Dashrath), Kakutsth (the scion of Raghus), Bharatagraj (the elder of Bharat) Purush (Supreme Purusha of Vedas), Purna (the complete, the absolute one), Janakivallabh (the dearest [Vallabh] of Janaki), Puran-Purushottam (the Purushottama renowned in scriptures), etc.
Each name of Shri Rama is so beautiful in Sri Ram Raksha Stotra, which makes this hymn a treasure of the sweet names of Shri Ram, so everyone should recite it daily to drink the pure nectar in form of sweet names of dear lord.

4. Suggest 'Sarvabhāvēna śaraṇāgati' :
Surrender to Shri Rama with your whole being (heart) (all Bhavas)
Shri Ram Raksha Stotra gives a very beautiful and unique verse dedicated for surrendering into lotus feet of Bhagavan Shri Rama. 'Sarvabhāvēna śaraṇāgati ' into supreme Purusha Sri Rama is the conclusion of Ramayana as well as Gita, Shri Rama Raksha Stotra also sings for the Sarvbhaven Sharanagati (taking Sharanagati of lord with whole heart).
mātā rāmō matpitā rāmacaṃdraḥ ।
svāmī rāmō matsakhā rāmacaṃdraḥ ।
sarvasvaṃ mē rāmacaṃdrō dayāluḥ ।
nānyaṃ jānē naiva jānē na jānē ॥ 30॥
My mother is Sri Rama, my father is Bhagavan Sri Ramachandra, my Swami (lord, husband, master) is Sri Rama, my dearest friend is Shri Ramachandram, my everything is merciful Shri Ramachandra. I know none else, I know of no other like him, I really don't! ॥30॥
So here one pledges and takes sharanagati (refuge) of Bhagavan Shri Rama with whole heart. It is for experiencing Shri Rama all the time. if one is not able to fix his/her heart in any one of the relations with Shri Ram, so s/he should take Sharanagati (refuge) of lord with Sarva-Bhavas - this is the complete meaning of Gita 18.62.

Conclusion of Gita:

Take refuge in Him (Parabrahm Shri Rama who is inside the heart) alone with your whole being, O scion of the Bharata dynasty. Through His grace you will attain the supreme Peace and the eternal Abode.  ।।Gita 18.62।।
Here the meaning of 'Sarvabhaven' is very mysterious, It means one should take refuge of supreme lord with whole heart in such a way that all the loves directed towards our beloved ones should merge at a single place in lord himself. This is also told by Lord himself in Shri Ramcharitmanas:-
The ties of affection that bind a man to his mother, father, brother, son, wife, body, wealth, house, friends and relations are like so many threads which a pious soul gathers up and twists into a string wherewith he binds his soul to My feet. [Shri Ramcharitmanas 5.48.2-3]
A saint of this description abides in My heart even as mammon resides in the heart of a covetous man.

5. Gives Sharanagati Mantra :
Here is the Mantra for taking Sharanagati of the lotus feet of Bhagavan Shri Ramachandra:
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ मनसा स्मरामि ।
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ वचसा गृणामि ।
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ शिरसा नमामि ।
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥२९॥
śrīrāmacandracaraṇau manasā smarāmi ।
śrīrāmacandracaraṇau vacasā gṛṇāmi ।
śrīrāmacandracaraṇau śirasā namāmi ।
śrīrāmacandracaraṇau śaraṇaṃ prapadyē ॥29॥
I remember the feet of Sri Ramachandra in my mind. I praise the feet of Sri Ramachandra by my speech. I make salutation into the lotus feet of Sri Ramachandra by bowing down my head. I take refuge on the feet of Sri Ramachandra by bowing myself down. ॥29॥
6. Bestower of everything :
Shri Ram Raksha Stotra removes all the dangers and obstacles, and It bestows everything Bhakti, Mukti, protection, and Sarv-Samprada (divine as well as material)!
Whoever recites Sri Ram Raksha Stotra gets:
1) Bhakti [devotion of Sri Sri SitaRama] , 2) Mukti [supreme liberation] , 3) Bhukti [all enjoyments in this world] 4) Accomplishments [Gets all powers andl Siddhis] , 5) Shiled of protection (Raksha) from Shri Ram himself against all types of fears and obstacles, 6) Victory (success) and auspiciousness everywhere [Jay-mangalam] , 6) Long life (Chirayu) , 7) Happiness (becomes blessed) [Sukhi] , 8) Humility [becomes Vinayi], 9) children and good family10) all sorts of wealth [both divine and material wealth], etc.

So whoever recites Gets Supreme Bhakti:-
rāmō rājamaṇiḥ sadā vijayatē rāmaṃ ramēśaṃ bhajē ।
rāmēṇābhihatā niśācaracamū rāmāya tasmai namaḥ ।
rāmānnāsti parāyaṇaṃ parataraṃ rāmasya dāsōsmyaham ।
rāmē cittalayaḥ sadā bhavatu mē bhō rāma māmuddhara ॥ 37॥

I worship Shri Rama who is jewel (among kings), who is always victorious, and who is lord of RamA (Sita or Lakshmi the goddess of wealth). By him the hordes of demons who move at night have been destroyed, I salute that Rama, To him is said my prayer! Beyond him there is nothing to be worshipped, (and thus) I am servant of that Sri Rama alone!! My mind is totally absorbed in Sri Rama. O Rama, please lift me up (from lower to higher self) ॥37॥
Note: some salient features of the aforementioned verse:
This is a divine shloka in शार्दूलविक्रीडितम् (śārdūlavikrīḍitam) meter from Shri Ram-Raksha-stotra in which all Vibhaktis of Sanskrit have been used in a single shloka in the name of Bhagavan Śrī 'Rāma':
रामो राजमणिः सदा विजयते रामं रमेशं भजे ।
रामेणाभिहता निशाचरचमू रामाय तस्मै नमः ॥
रामान्नास्ति परायणं परतरं रामस्य दासोऽस्म्यहम् ।
रामे चित्तलयः सदा भवतु मे भो राम मामुद्धर ॥३७॥
These things make this shloka in शार्दूलविक्रीडितम् (śārdūlavikrīḍitam) meter:
There are 4 lines, and every line has nineteen syllables. All four pādas (lines) follow the same pattern.
Pattern of these 19 syllables in each line goes in following way:
ऽ ऽ ऽ । । ऽ । ऽ । । । ऽ, ऽ ऽ । ऽ ऽ । ऽ ( = śārdūlavikrīḍitam, with a word-break after twelve syllables)
where
ऽ - represents Varna with deergha (long stress) maatra i.e. heavy syllable
। - represents Varna with laghu (normal stress) maatra i.e. light syllable
śārdūla means the lion, and lion is renowned as the king of forest. Therefore, While saluting Shri Rama in the beginning of Shri Ramacharitmanas, Goswami Ji composed the shloka in same śārdūlavikrīḍitam meter to present his Ishta-deva Shri Rama is the king among all Bhagavad-swarupas. śārdūlavikrīḍitam meter is a very auspicious meter, poets like to express their best wishes to couple in especially śārdūlavikrīḍitam meter, when the marriage ceremony is being performed, while couples put garlands on each other.
Here all Vibhaktis are in proper order:-
rāmō rājamaṇiḥ sadā vijayatē (rāmaḥ - prathamā, rāmō = rāmaḥ)
rāmaṃ ramēśaṃ bhajē (rāmam - dvitīyā)
rāmēṇābhihatā niśācaracamūḥ (rāmēṇa - tṛtīyā)
rāmāya tasmai namaḥ । (rāmāya - caturthī)
rāmānnāsti parāyaṇaṃparataraṃ (rāmāt - pañcamī, rāmāt + na+ asti = rāmānnāsti)
rāmasya dāsōsmyahaṃ (rāmasya - ṣaṣṭī)
rāmē cittalayassadā bhavatu mē (rāmē - saptamī)
bhō rāma ! māmuddhara ॥ (rāma ! - sambōdhana prathamā)

Gets Bhukti (all enjoyments of good life) and Mukti (supreme liberation):-
rāmēti rāmabhadrēti rāmacaṃdrēti vā smaran ।
narō na lipyatē pāpaiḥ bhuktiṃ muktiṃ ca vindati ॥ 12॥
(The one who) remembers Rama, Rambhadra and Ramachandra (the names of Bhagavan Sri Rama), sins never get attached to him, he gets all enjoyments (throughout the life) and liberation (in the end).॥12॥
Gets long life , happiness, humility, children , and victory (success) :
एतां रामबलोपेतां रक्षां यः सुकृती पठेत् ।
स चिरायुः सुखी पुत्री विजयी विनयी भवेत् ॥ १०॥
ētāṃ rāmabalōpētāṃ rakṣāṃ yaḥ sukṛtī paṭhēt ।
sa cirāyuḥ sukhī putrī vijayī vinayī bhavēt ॥ 10॥
May the good man who readeth this hymn (stotra) which has all the power of Sri Rama, be blessed with long life, happiness, children, victory (success) and humility. ॥10॥

Gets victory (success) everywhere:-
vajrapaṃjaranāmēdaṃ yō rāmakavacaṃ smarēt ।
avyāhatājñaḥ sarvatra labhatē jayamaṃgalam ॥ 14॥

He who recites or remembers this armour (shield) called 'Vajrapanjara' will be unscathed and will be victorious (successful) everywhere .॥14॥

Gets all sorts of wealth (Sarv-Sampada) and becomes free from all the dangers andl obstacles:-
āpadāmapahartāraṃ dātāraṃ sarvasaṃpadām ।
lōkābhirāmaṃ śrīrāmaṃ bhūyō bhūyō namāmyaham ॥35॥
Who is destroyer all the dangers and obstacles, and consecrator of all sorts of wealth (divine and of material nature both). I again and again salute that Shri Rama who is delight and cynosure of eyes of all the people. ॥35॥

English Translation of Sri Ram Raksha Stotra
Thus begins the Rama-raksha Stotra
(the hymn of Lord Rama for complete protection).

The author of this hymn is Budhakaushika Rishi.
The deity is Sri Sri Sita-Ramachandra.
The meter is Anushtup [eight syllables in a quarter].
Power (energy of mother nature) is Sita.
Limit (protector) is Hanumana.
The usage is recitation for pleasing Lord Sita-Ramachandra [Yugal Brahman].
Now meditate (on Sri Sri SitaRam)

I meditate on Bhagavan Shri Ramachandra who has long arms reaching his knees, who is holding a bow [Sharnga] and arrows, who is seated in a lotus pose, who is wearing yellow clothes, whose eyes compete with petals of a fresh lotus, who looks contented, Whose sight is fixed on the lotus face of Sita, sitting on his left thigh, whose color is like that of rain cloud, Who shines in various ornaments and has matted hair which can reach till thighs.
Thus meditated (on Sri Sri SitaRama).
The life story of Sri Rama is spread accross a billion of Ramayana-s (billions of verses). Recitation of each and every word [of his life story] is capable of destroying even the greatest sins. ॥1॥
Let us meditate on the red lotus-eyed, blue-complexioned Sri Rama, Who is accompanied with Sita and Lakshmana and is well-adorned with crown of matted hairs. ॥2॥
(Let us meditate Sri Rama) Who has a sword in a receptacle, and bows and arrows, who destroyed the demons, Who is birthless (beyond birth and death) but is incarnated by his own will to protect this world. ॥3॥
May the wise read the Hymn of Lord Sri Rama, which destroys all sins and grants all desires. (Here Begins the listing details of the body to be protected) May Shri Rama who is Raghu's descendant protect my head. May Rama, Dasharatha's son (Rama) protect my forehead. ॥4॥
May Kausalya's son protect my eyes, may favorite (disciple) of Vishvamitra protect my ears, may savior of Yajnas (sacrificial fire) protect my nose, may affectionate to Lakshmana protect my mouth. ॥5॥
May ocean of wisdom (Sri Rama) protect my tongue, may Rama who is saluted by Bharata protect my neck, may Sri Rama, the berear of celestial weapons protect my shoulders, may Rama who broke (Lord Shiva's) bow protect my arms ॥6॥
May the husband of Sita protect my hands, may Sri Rama the conqueror of Parasurama protect my heart, may slayer of Khara (demon) protect my abdomen, may he who gave refuge to Jambavan protect my navel. ॥7॥
May master of Sugreeva protect my waist, may god of Hanuman protect my hips, may the best of Raghus (Rama) and the destroyer of the lineage of demons protect my thighs. ॥8॥
May Sri Ram who built the bridge (over ocean) protect my knees, may who killed the ten-faced one (Ravana) protect my shins, may consecrator of wealth to Bibhishana protect my feet, may Sri Rama protect my entire body. ॥9॥
May the good man who readeth this hymn (stotra) which has all the power of Sri Rama, be blessed with long life, happiness, children, victory (success) and humility. ॥10॥
Those who wanders below the earth (netherworld) or on the earth or above the earth (sky), or those who wander surreptitiously changing their forms would not be even able to see the one who is protected by the name of Rama. Let alone bring any harm to him. ॥11॥
(The one who) sings or remembers Rama, Rambhadra and Ramachandra (the names of Bhagavan Sri Rama), sins never get attached to him, he gets all enjoyments (throughout the life) and liberation (in the end). ॥12॥
In all three worlds, one who wears the hymn of the name of Rama which has conquered the world as a protection round his neck, would get all the powers on his hand. ॥13॥
He who recites or remembers this armour (shield) called 'Vajrapanjara' will be unscathed and will be victorious (successful) everywhere .॥14॥
This protective hymn of Sri Rama was told by Lord Shiva in the dream, and was written down as it is by Vedic sage Budha koushika the very next morning. ॥15॥
Who is like a pleasure-garden of wish-Yielding trees, and who brings a full stop on our all adversities (obstacles, sufferings, calamities), and who is the most beautiful in all the three worlds, that Sri Rama, is our 'Lord' indeed. ॥16॥
May the two brothers (Sri Rama and Lakshmana) who are young, full of beauty, and very strong, who have broad eyes like lotus, who wear the hides of trees, (continued..)॥17॥
Two sons of Dasharath, the two brothers (Shri Ram and Lakshman) who are subsisting on roots and fruits, and practicing penance and celibacy, (continued ..)॥18॥
who give protection to all beings and who are foremost among all the archers, who destroy whole race of demons, (may they) protect us, O' best of scions of Raghu (Sri Rama and Lakshmana)!॥19॥
Who bows pulled and ready, their hands on the arrows packed in ever full quivers carried on their backs, May Sri Rama and Lakshmana always escort me in my path, for my protection. ॥20॥
Ever prepared and armed with sword, shield, bow and arrows and followed by Lakshmana, Shri Rama is like our cherished thoughts come to life. May he, along with Lakshman, both ever youthful, protect us. ॥21॥
Shri Rama, the son of Dasaratha, ever accompanied by Lakshmana, the scion of Raghus, the son of Kaushalya, is all powerful and is the most perfect man. ॥22॥
Shri Ram, who is perceived through Vedanta, who is lord of sacrificial fire (Yajnas), who is Primeval one (ancient one), and the best among all men, who is the beloved of Janaki (Sita), and whose bravery is immeasurable. ॥23॥
(Thus lord Shiva said) My devotee who recites these names of Rama with faith, He, without any doubt, will get religious merits more than the performance of Yajnas like Aswamedha, etc. ॥24॥
Those who sing the praise of Sri Ram who is dark-complexioned like leaf of green grass, who is lotus-eyed and dressed in yellow clothes , through this hymn are no longer ordinary men trapped in the world (they are liberated). ॥25॥
I salute that Sri Rama who is handsome, the elder brother of Lakshmana, the best of the scions of the Raghu-race, the husband of Sita, the ocean of compassion, the treasure of virtues, the most beloved of the religious people, and protector of dharma, Him who is the Lord emperor of kings, embodiment of truth, the son of Dasharath, dark-complexioned, and the personification of peace and tranquillity, Him who is the enemy of Ravana, the crown jewel of Raghu dynasty, and the cynosure of eyes of all the people. ॥26॥
I salute Rama, (my) beloved Rama, and moon like peaceful Rama, I salute Lord of Raghus, Lord of all the worlds, and the husband of Sita. ॥27॥
I take refuge of Sri Ram who is the delight of the Raghus,
Shri Rama who is elder brother of Bharata,
Shri Rama who is tormentor of his enemies in the war.
I come under refuge of God Rama. ॥28॥
I remember the feet of Sri Ramachandra in my mind.
I praise the feet of Sri Ramachandra by my speech.
I salute the feet of Sri Ramachandra by bowing down my head.
I take refuge in the lotus-feet of Sri Ramachandra by bowing myself down ॥29॥
My mother is Shri Rama, My father is Shri Rama,
My Swami (lord, master, husband) is Shri Rama, My dearest friend is Ramachandra.
Indeed the kind-hearted Shri Rama is all I have!
I know none else, I know of no other like him, I really don't! ॥30॥
I salute that Rama the delight of the Raghus, who has Lakshmana on his right and the daughter of Janaka (Sita) on the left, and who has Hanuman in his front. ॥31॥
I surrender to (that) Lord Sri Rama who is the delight of all the worlds, most courageous in war, lotus-eyed, lord of the Raghu-race and the Personification of compassion. ॥32॥
I take refuge in the lord Hanuman who is as fast as the mind, equals his father the wind-God in speed, is the master of the senses, the foremost amongst the learned, the leader of the monkey forces, and the great messenger of Shri Rama. ॥33॥
I salute the great Sage Valmiki who sings the sweet name of Rama, sweet letters of Rama Naam (in form of Ramayana) as sweetly as a cuckoo will sing sitting atop a tree. ॥34॥
Who is destroyer all the dangers and obstacles, and consecrator of all sorts of wealth, I again and again salute that Shri Rama who is delight of all the worlds. ॥35॥
The road of the name of Rama destructs of the cause of rebirth (grants liberation), generates happiness and wealth, and a scare to Yama's (lord of death) messengers. ॥36॥
I worship Shri Rama who is jewel (among kings), who is always victorious, and who is lord of RamA (Sita, the original Ramaa). By him the hordes of demons who move at night have been destroyed, I salute that Rama, To him is said my prayer! Beyond him there is nothing to be worshipped, (and thus) I am servant of that Sri Rama alone!! My mind is totally absorbed in Sri Rama. O Rama, please lift me up (from lower to higher self). ॥37॥
Lord Shiva tells: O' Fair-faced lady (Parvati) ! My mind enjoys saying the beautiful nama - Ram, Ram, Ram like this. Uttering once the name of Ram is equal to the uttering of any other name of God (Bhagavan), a thousand times. ॥38॥
॥ Thus ends Hymn (of Lord) Rama (for) protection and composed by Budha Koushika ॥
